Moving to Australia,
Hmm…. can be difficult. So far, we have sorted out our visas (took two years) and we arrive in Sydney less than two weeks ago. We researched as much as we could before we made the big move. We have waited to set up our lives until we got here. We decided years ago that we would move to Sydney as this is where we met 7 years ago – whilst doing to inevitable year in Australia.
So. Now we’ve moved here – so far so good. The weather hasn’t been that bad – has our first thunderstorm last night and today is feeling a lot fresher than it has been. Generally the sun has been shining – which is nice. And if this is what they call Autumn thewn I am all up for staying here for while. esp. as it goes into summer. That should be nice.
We’ve decided to do the traditional/expected thing by moving to Bondi – yey! we get to see the waves every day if we want to
mmmm…. Happy me.
There is one thing that has been worrying us since we arrived. And that is the cost of living. Blimey. I thought London was expensive, but we are paying more on rent here and so far we have almost spent all my savings £4500. Admittedly £1000 on a car – but the other half will need a car to carry his tools around the city – from job to job. – And its a beautiful marrooooooon beast
– the car that is.
The cost of food seems to be on the expensive side as well. In fact most thigs are expensive. The apartment we are staying in has internet access. Who would of thought we woudl be paying $35 – £15 for a days worth of internet!!! Once we get jobs then I can get a wireless thing to connect to laptop – but until then, its internet cafe’s all the way.
I have been applying for jobs since – well before I left the UK. I had a telephone interview, and since I got here I have been going through the interview process. I find out Friday if I have been successful. Fingers crossed, and everything will fall into place. If not. AAAaaaaaaah, don’t know how we will pay for rent. Will just have to start doing the laborious thing of applying for jobs. Can I say Aaaaaaaah again. Aaaaaaah
We are in Sydney though – can be too sad eh!
